How to Meditate on God's Word

Research shows that positively reframing your thoughts enhances your well-being. One way to do this as a Christian is to meditate on the Word of God, which Scripture says leads to nourishment, refreshment, strength, prosperity, and success. Simply put, meditating on Scripture is to ponder and speak to yourself about it, which you can easily do during the day. Here are some ways you can meditate on Scripture today:

Prayerfully identify a verse or chunk of Scripture related to challenges you'll face throughout the day.

Think about what you'll face today. This could be a trial you're going through or an area where you may need growth. Then, find a verse that relates to this issue and offers some challenge or encouragement.

Write out the verse.

Journal or write the verse on a sticky note you can take with you or post somewhere in your home or workplace.

Memorize the verse.

Once you've seen the verse a few times, try reciting it without reading it. Memorizing the verse allows you to think about it more often throughout the day!

Repeat it to yourself throughout the day.

Take time to think about and speak this verse throughout the day. You can even set an hourly reminder on your phone to reflect on it.

In addition to operating with faith and within God's power, replacing negative thoughts with more adaptive thoughts, such as God's truth, is a powerful way to bolster your mental health and life satisfaction. Give these steps to meditating on the Word of God a try, and let us know how it goes!
